Sun and Clouds
The purpose of this project was to teach us simple adobe illustrator tools and how to work them. We had to create compound shapes, use layers, make simple shapes, etc. I didn't find many things, if any, difficult with this project. I enjoyed being creative and being able to experiment with different color combinations.
Principles of DesignThe purpose of this project was to teach us simple adobe illustrator tools and how to work them. We had to create compound shapes, use layers, make simple shapes, etc. I didn't find many things, if any, difficult. I wouldn't change anything and I enjoyed being creative and using the colors towards the end of the drawing.
Pen Tool Project
Part 1:The purpose of this project was to let us get comfortable using all aspects of the pen tool. It was very tedious work, but in the end it was all worth it. The hardest part for me was trying to get in as many details as possible.
Part 2:In this project, I had to choose 3 images (one of a person, one of an animal, and one of a random image.) Then, my job was to re-create these images using the pen tool and live paint. I learned some tips and tricks regarding the pen tool and really improved my skills. I also learned a lot about using my layers. The hardest part about this project was how tedious it was. Being a perfectionist, I had to get in as many details as possible, making this project very difficult. If I had a chance to redo my design, I would definitely spend more time on the backgrounds. While doing this project, I realized that I really enjoy being creative and having to be independent to make my own creative decisions. It takes a lot of trial-and-error to find out what looks the best, but in the end it's worth it.
Alphabet Book:In this project, everyone in the class was assigned a letter. Clearly, I got chosen for the letter "f." Then, we had to create a page in a children's alphabet book according to that letter. I chose to do a page about a family of flamingos and what they were doing.

Typeface ProjectPart 1 Helvetica Essay:
Our minds are drawn to things that are familiar to us. This is why so many graphic designers today use Helvetica as their go to font. It’s simple, clean cut, and classic. Helvetica is one of the most popular and commonly known fonts today, and that is why I believe that designers should use it as their go-to font today.
Helvetica is a very large, bold font compared to others such as Times New Roman. Whether you’re shopping or looking for directions while walking down a busy street, Helvetica draws your attention. It’s the way to go if you’re looking to draw people in and catch their eye. It can be easily read from a distance and it doesn’t strain your eyes. Many older people or people with bad vision in general have a tougher time reading more detailed or hectic fonts. With Helvetica, the words are clean cut and simple, making it pleasing to the eye. Helvetica stands out among other fonts in a variety of ways. One of my favorite quotes from the movie Helvetica is, “If you want to say something, say nothing.” With fonts that are more difficult to read like Amatic SC or Yellowtail, it’s easy to simply skim right over the actual meaning behind the words and spend time trying to decipher them. With Helvetica, the reader gets right to the point. They read the words quickly and easily, making it appealing to almost everyone. Nobody wants to read a billboard or a magazine where you have to analyze the words and try to figure out what they actually say before you can really read it. 3M, BMW, Jeep, American Apparel. These are just a fraction of the companies that use Helvetica as their primary font. It’s hip and trendy. American Apparel is one of the most well-known clothing companies around today. American Apparel’s audience is mostly teenagers and the younger generation, making it very popular among young people. Even the New York subway system uses it on their signs. Some people may argue that the more we see a certain font, the more it becomes dull and boring. However, our eyes are attracted to things that feel familiar to us. Helvetica is so natural for us to read because it’s always been around. We’re used to it. All designers should use Helvetica as much as possible because it’s classic. There’s an abundant amount of reasons why designers should use Helvetica as their go-to font. It’s large and bold, attracting our eyes to it because it stands out among other fonts. It’s very simple and chic, making it easy to read. It doesn’t take away from what is actually trying to be said. Helvetica has also recently become hip and trendy with the younger audience because of companies such as American Apparel. Helvetica has been around for as long as we can remember, so why should be change that? Part 2 Typeface Webquest:In this project, we had to find 4 different movie posters and describe how the text in them made us feel. Since different type makes us all feel a different way, I thought it was interesting to see how different people felt compared to how I did.
Part 3 Typeface Word Art:In this project, we had to define a word by using only the word itself to define it. For this, I chose the word lyric. I incorporated music notes themselves into the word, as well as putting the word into sheet music. My favorite part about this project was being able to be creative and using my imagination.
